Abstract

National security constitutes the fundamental framework through which a state safeguards its sovereignty, maintains stability, and ensures the well-being of its citizens. Traditionally associated with military power and defense strategies, the concept has evolved to encompass a broad spectrum of concerns, including economic resilience, intelligence operations, cybersecurity, diplomacy, and law enforcement. In response to increasingly complex global threats, nations must adopt a multifaceted approach that integrates diverse security measures. One often underestimated yet critically important component of this strategy is foreign language proficiency. The ability to communicate across linguistic and cultural boundaries enhances intelligence gathering, strengthens international cooperation, fortifies cybersecurity, improves law enforcement capabilities, and enables effective crisis management.
