Its responsibilities have evolved beyond basic border surveillance to include counter-sabotage operations, the prevention of illegal migration, and active participation in joint defense initiatives along border regions. The SBGSU has rapidly adjusted to the complexities of hybrid warfare, which involves countering information operations, tackling the illicit trafficking of weapons, and addressing reconnaissance and sabotage groups operating in the border zone.
