The role of the state border guard service of Ukraine in strengthening national security under wartime conditions

Abstract

With the emergence of full-scale aggression by the russian federation against Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGSU) has become a pivotal force within the national security framework. Its responsibilities have evolved beyond basic border surveillance to include counter-sabotage operations, the prevention of illegal migration, and active participation in joint defense initiatives along border regions. The SBGSU has rapidly adjusted to the complexities of hybrid warfare, which involves countering information operations, tackling the illicit trafficking of weapons, and addressing reconnaissance and sabotage groups operating in the border zone. As a result, there is a pressing need to enhance the Service’s analytical and operational capabilities.
